Full Job Description
Kensington Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals and medical facility in the Philadelphia Region, is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to perform nursing functions to support and enhance the medical role in the treatment of our patients. This position is in our Medical Care Unit. Patients accepted into this unit are in need of 24-hour medically directed evaluation and treatment, provided in an acute care setting. Because we are licensed as an acute care hospital, Kensington Hospital is able to manage medical conditions of a more complex nature. Immediate need for all shifts
Minimum Requirements
- Licensed in the State of Pennsylvania and knowledge of medical and clinical requirements. Preferred knowledge of substance use and behavioral healthcare. (Not Required)
- Requires an associate degree and two years’ experience in a clinical capacity.
- Computer competence and proficiency required.
Essential Requirements
- Provide nursing assessment of patients’ requiring medical treatment, document findings and consult with the Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Physician.
- Assure that all medications and medical treatments are provided as ordered by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Physician.
- Verifies client prescriptions as ordered by clients’ physician, in order to provide for continuity of care when scheduling patients to see the Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Physician.
- Responsible for coordination and administration of medications.
- Serves as a member of the treatment team, providing medical information to the aftercare planning process.
- Record and conduct all prescribed medical interventions.
- Provide first aid and emergency services, as required.
- Refer patient to appropriate emergency facilities when emergency care exceeds the capabilities of our medical Unit.
- Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of medical complications of medical conditions.
- Knowledge of general medical/surgical procedures.
- Must demonstrate genuine empathy and concern for individuals as indicated in Kensington Hospital’s vison, mission, and values statements.
- Adhere to applicable city, county, state, federal laws, regulations, Kensington Hospital policies, and Joint Commission standards.
